課程介紹古希臘社會經濟史的不同面向。經濟是人類生活的重心，包括食物及其他生活所需的來源、分配以及消費。當古希臘社會日益發展，其經濟生活的方式也有所變動，其中牽涉到技術的演進、商業與貿易的發展，而經濟的變化也影響了社會生活: 社會階級往往與經濟有關，而掌握的資源又能成為政治的籌碼。政治繼而能藉由權力反過來影響經濟的走向。
課程將介紹決定社會經濟的因素，並從自然環境、農、林、漁、牧、手工業，介紹古希臘生活的資源以及相關的經濟活動，也將從勞動力的來源介紹不同的社會族群對經濟的影響。課程最後的部分將介紹法律、機構與政府組織在社會經濟中所扮演的腳色。這是一個可以由社會經濟史的角度來了解古希臘文明的課程。

The course introduces different aspects of the economic history of ancient Greek society. Economy is the focus of human life, including food and other sources, distribution and consumption required for life. As ancient Greek society grew increasingly, its economic lifestyle also changed, which involved technological evolution, business and trade development, and economic changes also affected social life: social level is often related to economy, and the resources you master can become the code of politics. Politics can in turn influence the direction of economy through power.
The course will introduce the factors that determine social economy, and introduce the resources of ancient Greek life and related economic activities from natural environment, agriculture, forestry, weather, animal husbandry, and handicrafts. It will also introduce the impact of different social groups on economy from the source of power. The final part of the course will introduce the beauty of laws, institutions and government organizations in social economy. This is a course that can understand ancient Greek civilization from the perspective of social economic history.
