從現代的眼光來看，宋詩的成就與價值理應獲得更多的關注。相對於唐詩，宋詩具有更濃厚的人文精神與更廣闊的知識背景，代表當時士大夫與禪宗、儒家、道家的多元對話。相較於唐詩的燃燒精神，宋詩更為沉潛、內斂，宋代詩人看待生命、觀照自然、書寫自我的角度也與感性多情的唐人有所不同，而顯得更為深邃複雜，曲折而多變。這些特質，將透過宋詩作品的選讀，一一加以檢證體悟。

From a modern perspective, the achievements and value of Song poetry deserve more attention. Compared with Tang poetry, Song poetry has a stronger humanistic spirit and a broader intellectual background, and represents the diverse dialogue between scholar-bureaucrats and Zen, Confucianism, and Taoism at that time. Compared with the burning spirit of Tang poetry, Song poetry is more deep and restrained. The poets of the Song Dynasty looked at life, observed nature, and wrote about themselves from a different angle than the sentimental Tang people, and appeared to be more profound, complex, tortuous and changeable. These characteristics will be examined and understood one by one through selected readings of Song poetry.
