Introduction to Popular Literature

教育目標 Course Target

(一) 掌握中國民間文學的源流及演變軌跡,理解體會俗文學與雅文學對人民生活不同面向之影響,了解通俗文學的價值與意義,認識俗文學之多元風貌。
(二) 培養學生欣賞、鑒察俗文學的能力,從中體會中國傳統文化深刻的思想內涵與民族情感,從中品味老祖宗的生活智慧與人生哲學。
(三)訓練學生蒐集俗文學資料,包含古典文獻資料以及從生活中取材,如:訪問耆老、遊賞地方風物、考察地方習俗等,培養學生敏銳觀察俗文學對於生活無所不在的浸潤。
(四) 引導學生將俗文學應用於生活實務,如:猜燈謎、寫對聯、設計文字遊戲、表演繞口令、熟悉歷史人物傳說、了解臺灣風土民情。
(五)讓學生以輕鬆有趣、不失思想與文化深度的方式,從生活中獲得文學的趣味,進而真正喜愛文學,將文學提升為生活中不可或缺的智慧。本課程以指定教材曾永義教授編著《俗文學概論》(台北:三民書局)為主要教科書,搭配教師自編講義授課。因俗文學範圍廣大,為求講課脈絡清晰、條理分明,將依教科書按俗文學性質,區分四大單元:

(一)短語綴屬:俗語、俚語、諺語、慣用語、歇後語、對聯、謎語、文字遊戲等等。
(二)各類型故事:包含寓言、笑話、神話、仙話、鬼話、精怪故事、傳說、童話、民間故事。
(三)民族故事:牛郎織女、白蛇故事、梁祝故事、孟姜女故事、西施故事、王昭君故事、楊貴妃故事、包公故事、關公故事。
(四)韻文學:歷代民間歌謠、說唱藝術、地方戲曲。

每單元教師講授內容,以中國歷代俗文學之資料為主;將近期末時,請同學分組上台報告,則以臺灣資料為主,以收相輔相成之效果。
至於授課方式,以教師講授、鼓勵學生參與討論為主要方式,並不定期視課程單元安排課程作業練習,以提升學生上課參與度,促進師生之間的交流。搭配以下二項活動:
期中考試請學生上台繞口令,教師將限定文本,並制定活動規則。
在學期結束之前,將請學生分組上台報告,自擇某主題、某體裁之俗文學進行團體報告,並請運用PPT、圖片、影音媒體等多元化方式分析,以臺灣資料為主題,呈現俗文學多元活潑之特質。

(1) Grasp the origin and evolution of Chinese folk literature, understand the impact of popular literature and elegant literature on different aspects of people's lives, understand the value and significance of popular literature, and understand the diverse styles of popular literature.
(2) Cultivate students' ability to appreciate and examine popular literature, experience the profound ideological connotation and national emotions of traditional Chinese culture, and taste the life wisdom and philosophy of life of their ancestors.
(3) Train students to collect popular literature materials, including classical literature materials and draw materials from daily life, such as interviewing elders, traveling to appreciate local scenery, investigating local customs, etc., and cultivate students' keen observation of the ubiquitous infiltration of popular literature into life.
(4) Guide students to apply popular literature to practical life, such as: guessing lantern riddles, writing couplets, designing word games, performing tongue twisters, becoming familiar with historical figures and legends, and understanding Taiwan's customs and customs.
(5) Let students gain the interest of literature from life in a relaxed and interesting way without losing ideological and cultural depth, and then truly love literature, and promote literature to be an indispensable wisdom in life. This course uses the designated textbook "Introduction to Popular Literature" compiled by Professor Zeng Yongyi (Taipei: Sanmin Bookstore) as the main textbook, and is taught with handouts compiled by the teacher. Due to the vast scope of popular literature, in order to ensure a clear and organized lecture course, four major units will be distinguished according to the nature of popular literature in the textbook:

(1) Short suffixes: slang, slang, proverbs, idioms, idioms, couplets, riddles, word games, etc.
(2) Various types of stories: including fables, jokes, myths, fairy tales, ghost stories, ghost stories, legends, fairy tales, and folk tales.
(3) National stories: the story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, the White Snake, the story of Butterfly Lovers, the story of Meng Jiangnu, the story of Xi Shi, the story of Wang Zhaojun, the story of Yang Guifei, the story of Bao Gong, and the story of Guan Gong.
(4) Rhyme literature: folk songs, rap art, and local operas of the past dynasties.

The content taught by the teacher in each unit is mainly based on the materials of Chinese popular literature in the past dynasties. At the end of the period, students will be invited to give presentations in groups, mainly based on Taiwanese materials, so as to achieve complementary effects.
As for the teaching methods, teachers give lectures and encourage students to participate in discussions as the main methods. Coursework exercises are arranged from time to time according to the course units to enhance students' participation in class and promote communication between teachers and students. Combined with the following two activities:
In the mid-term exam, students are asked to go on stage to tell tongue twisters. The teacher will limit the text and formulate rules for the activity.
Before the end of the semester, students will be asked to give presentations in groups. They will choose a certain theme and genre of popular literature for a group report. They will also be asked to use PPT, pictures, audio-visual media and other diversified methods to analyze, using Taiwanese materials as the theme, to present the diverse and lively characteristics of popular literature.
