Experimental Economics

教育目標 Course Target

The purpose of this course is to provide introductions to the theory and practice of experimental economics. Therefore, we will let you experience the experiments in person, and present you research results from contemporary experimental studies in the former part of this semester. Students are supposed to be aware of major findings of experimental economics, and be able to recognize the discrepancy or concordance between economic theory and experimental results after the class.

課程概述 Course Description

Experimental economics is a growing body of research regarding testing of
theories, discovery of new phenonmena, and market design. The purpose of
this course is to provide introductions to the theory and practice of experi-
mental economics. Therefore, we will let you experience the experiments in
person, and present you research results from contemporary experimental
studies in the former part of this semester. Students are supposed to be
aware of major ‾ndings of experimental economics, and be able to recognize
the discrepancy or concordance between economic theory and experimental
results after the class.
Another important development of experimental economics is its con-
nection with psychology, neuroscience, and agent-based computational eco-
nomics. In this course, we will introduce not only traditional topics of ex-
perimental economics, but also recent ‾ndings from the collaboration with
those ‾elds mentioned above. Students will be informed the latest results of
this interdiscilinary research when each lesson of the course is being taught.
Furthermore, we are going to introduce you the principles of experimen-
tal methodology while we go through the experiments in the classroom. In
the latter part of this semester, we will focus more on the design principles
and the execution rules of experiments. Students are expected to design
their own experiments, and will have chances to present and run their ex-
periments.
