創業精神的基礎必須建立在有目標的創新上，創新是創業家的特殊工具，他們藉著有系統化、有目的的創新，改變了資源的產出價值，創造出新的消費者需求。而創新反應著一種企業環境，意旨發揚及支持奇妙的想法、實驗與具創造性之過程，目的是在提升企業的獲利能力，並增進員工的報酬。Vakola and Rezgui,(2000)定義「創新就是提供個人或整個系統一個跳脫傳統的想法、產品或製程」。若持續性的創新，企業不斷尋求新奇的問題或是利用新科技與程序型式、新產品與服務等來解決需求，便可為企業帶來長期持續性的利潤。由彼得杜拉克的觀點，我們可知「創新」是「創業精神」非常核心的一個部分。近年來，在商業環境、消費型態、娛樂方式等快速變遷的浪潮下，也為全球各地的青年開啟了創新、創業的廣闊天空。自矽谷、倫敦、特拉維夫、柏林、中關村，全球各國莫不砸下重金打造創新創業生態圈，以期在下個世代掌握創新競爭力的龍頭，主導世界的發展走向，其中最重要的關鍵，即為培養創新、創業的年輕世代。
本課程的目標乃是藉由概念、方法、經驗傳承、個案研討以及創新創業的模擬練習與討論中，幫助學生們了解在產業中的成功關鍵，並鼓勵學生實際動手創新，在實戰中體會創業家應具備的精神，養成創業家的視野，以期成為未來新一代的創業實踐者。
