Course Target

Course Introduction This course is the "Native Consensus of Local Agreement" of the "Red and Earth Academy". It aims to explore the sustainable institutional mechanisms of "group economy" through the analysis and comparison of different types of cases and the thinking of theoretical levels, especially the group economy types related to solving agricultural, rural and agricultural problems. This course is also an invitation and exploration: Inviting interested students to experience the possibility of a "software social learning" through specific group economic cases and Karl Polanyi's theoretical perspective. The course is divided into four parts. The first part is to locate the group economy through three theoretical articles; then discuss the following questions through the specific cases of the group economy (Mendrathon-Cooperative Economy, Gramin Bank-Social Enterprise, Cooperation Building),: 1. Why do these economic forms solve social problems? In what sense are these economic forms alternative to market solutions? 2. What social consequences of these economic forms (whether bad) are they causing (whether bad) to solve problems? Why? 3. From the articulation of market mechanisms and non-market mechanisms, what are the mechanisms that can sustain these cases? Or, what are the reasons why (probably) cannot be sustained? 4. What professional knowledge or skills are required to operate these cases? What can society do? 5. What is the reason for Karl Polanyi’s theory? The third part is to study Karl Polanyi's "The Great Transformation" and try to gain the development of understanding the economic development of the group. The fourth part is for practical work. The classmate group selects specific cases of the economic integration between the "Three Agricultural Questions" at home and abroad. The above problems are structural case analysis reports (including classroom reports and written reports). In addition to the class, students who choose to study should also conduct "red soil experience" as a unit and share their experiences. Course Target This course expects that students will have basic specific knowledge about agricultural problems after completing this course (embodied) Knowledge), has a more practical understanding of "group economy" and can review the possibilities and limitations of different "group economy types". Course recommendations: 1. Those who are interested in "software social learning". 2. Those who are interested in "where Taiwan's agricultural industry goes." 3. Those who have aspirations for "social enterprises" (or similar economic type conditions).
