國家的社會制度運行與人口有密切關係，人口規模雖然重要，主要核
心仍落在人口年齡結構。人口組成與變遷不僅對於個人的生命歷程、家庭組成與
社會制度有重大影響，同時衍生國家經濟與國力強弱的深遠效應。舉例而言，長
期照護制度、國民年金制度或商業保險的財務均衡規劃與運作，均必需掌握未來
的人口結構變遷以及疾病、失能與健康的分佈，才能有效配置資源。本課程旨在
介紹人口學(Demography)的基本概念與理論觀點，透過社會現象連結人口學方法，
訓練同學獨立思考與分析的能力。課程以講課與討論進行，鼓勵同學從不同角度
思考，引發大家對人口學的好奇與興趣。
