教育目標 Course Target

課程簡介:
本課程介紹研究社會現象的過程及方法,其中特別強調研究思考的邏輯,研究問題的提問,資料收集、分析與解釋,及研究計劃的完成。社會學經常使用的研究方法,如問卷調查、深入訪談等會在課程中一一介紹。
教學目標:
本課程為社會學系必修課程,修習時間為一年。在這一年中,我們希望努力達成以下的目標:
 對研究設計及方法有基本的認識
 能審慎評估所閱讀的社會學文獻
 能選擇適合的研究方法對有興趣的題目進行研究
 了解研究人類行為的限制及相關問題
 欣賞與認識量化與質化研究的長處和弱點,了解單一研究方法的限制
 為未來更深入的研究或就業奠立基礎

在第一學期,學習重點為:科學研究的精神,研究問題的聚焦,研究設計,研究倫理,文獻回顧,概念化與操作化,和機率抽様等。此外,我們會先學習量化方法中的問卷調查法與實驗法。
第二學期的學習重點為:內容分析,質化研究法,質性與量化資料分析,撰寫研究報告,分享研究成果等。基本及進階的統計概念與統計軟體會在課程中複習與講授。

Course Introduction:
This course introduces the process and methods of researching social phenomena, with special emphasis on the logic of research thinking, asking research questions, data collection, analysis and interpretation, and the completion of research plans. Research methods commonly used in sociology, such as questionnaires and in-depth interviews, will be introduced one by one in the course.
Teaching objectives:
This course is a required course in the Department of Sociology and takes one year to study. During this year, we hope to achieve the following goals:
 Have a basic understanding of research design and methods
 Be able to critically evaluate the sociological literature read
 Ability to choose appropriate research methods to conduct research on topics of interest
 Understand the limitations and related issues of studying human behavior
 Appreciate and understand the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative and qualitative research, and understand the limitations of a single research method
 Lay the foundation for more in-depth research or employment in the future

In the first semester, the learning focus is: the spirit of scientific research, focus on research problems, research design, research ethics, literature review, conceptualization and operationalization, and probability extraction, etc. In addition, we will first learn the questionnaire method and experimental method among quantitative methods.
The focus of learning in the second semester is: content analysis, qualitative research methods, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, writing research reports, sharing research results, etc. Basic and advanced statistical concepts and statistical software will be reviewed and taught during the course.
