本課程主要目標在於:
1.讓修課同學認識地理資訊系統(Geographic Information System, GIS)的基本內涵；
2.讓修課同學認識公共管理與地理資訊的連結；
3.讓修課同學了解當前公部門如何具體應用GIS進行決策分析；
4.讓修課同學理解GIS在行政管理與政策分析上的重要性與潛能；
5.讓修課同學具備GIS軟體的基本操作能力。

地理資訊系統與公共事務管理的連結已愈來廣泛，主要原因在於公共管理的內容多數與空間位置的地理資訊有關。因此，面對當代GIS的普及應用與發展，本課程首先介紹GIS的基本內涵，接著透過GIS應用於公共管理的案例與相關研究報告的介紹，讓學生了解當前政府部門為了提昇公共服務的品質與管理效率時，其具體應用GIS進行公共管理與決策分析的類型。

透過本課程同學除了可以有助於同學了解GIS在行政管理與政策分析上的重要性與潛能，更重要的是同學可以學會GIS軟體的基本操作與分析能力，進而具備有競爭力的資訊能力。

The main objectives of this course are:
1. Let the course students understand the basic connotation of Geographic Information System (GIS);
2. Let course students understand the connection between public administration and geographical information;
3. Let the course students understand how the current public sector specifically applies GIS for decision-making analysis;
4. Let course students understand the importance and potential of GIS in administrative management and policy analysis;
5. To equip students taking the course with basic operational abilities of GIS software.

The connection between geographical information systems and public affairs management has become more and more extensive, mainly because most of the content of public management is related to geographical information of spatial location. Therefore, in the face of the popular application and development of contemporary GIS, this course first introduces the basic connotation of GIS, and then introduces cases and related research reports of GIS applied to public management, allowing students to understand the specific types of public management and decision-making analysis that current government departments use GIS to conduct public management and decision-making analysis in order to improve the quality and management efficiency of public services.

Through this course, students can not only understand the importance and potential of GIS in administrative management and policy analysis, but more importantly, students can learn the basic operation and analysis capabilities of GIS software, and thus have competitive information capabilities.
