International Etiquette and Protocol

教育目標 Course Target

課程目標:
自國際關係學理與國際關係實務的雙向角度探討「國際禮儀」(etiquette) 的原則與應用,培養同學國際關係 (IR)、國際組織 (IO) 與國際法 (IL) 的學理概念、建立國際觀以及在國際場合 (international occasions) 運用國際禮儀的能力。
課程內涵:
本課程內容涵蓋四大主題範疇:
(一)外交實務:國際法基本概念,當代外交領事制度,外交特權與豁免,外交禮儀的原則與實踐。
(二)國際組織:聯合國(UN),世界貿易組織(WTO),世界衛生組織(WHO),國際民航組織(ICAO),亞太經合會(APEC),東南亞國協(ASEAN),國際非政府組織(INGOs)。
(三)國際場合:國際會議規範與實務,國際談判原則與實務,國際場合的角色認知與扮演。
(四)社交禮儀:禮儀在食,衣,住,行,育,樂方面的運用。

Course objectives:
Explore the principles and applications of "etiquette" from the two-way perspective of international relations theory and international relations practice, cultivate students' academic concepts of international relations (IR), international organizations (IO) and international law (IL), establish an international outlook, and use international etiquette in international occasions.
Course content:
This course covers four major subject areas:
(1) Diplomatic practice: basic concepts of international law, contemporary diplomatic and consular systems, diplomatic privileges and immunities, and principles and practices of diplomatic etiquette.
(2) International organizations: United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO), World Health Organization (WHO), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs).
(3) International occasions: international conference norms and practices, international negotiation principles and practices, role cognition and performance in international occasions.
(4) Social etiquette: the application of etiquette in food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, and entertainment.

課程概述 Course Description

本課程聚焦在國際互動常規,包括兩個部份。第一是口語和書信寫作範例,如怎樣禮貌性的說不。第二部份是行為舉止需要注意的重點,包括服儀要求,餐食安排和餐桌禮儀,以及交通與住宿等等。本課程試圖讓學習者養成內化習慣,替職場生涯做好準備。在這方面,內容和包裝都能夠強化學習者的說服力。

This course focuses on international interaction practices and consists of two parts. The first is oral and letter writing examples, such as how to say no politely. The second part is the key points that need to be paid attention to in behavior, including dress and etiquette requirements, meal arrangements and table manners, as well as transportation and accommodation, etc. This course attempts to enable learners to develop internalized habits and prepare themselves for the workplace. In this regard, both content and packaging can enhance the persuasiveness of learners.
