經濟學是一門分析人類行為的科學。本課程將建立學生經濟學的基本概念、思考方式與分析方法。主要目的在於培養學生運用經濟學系統性的方式分析經濟社會上各種問題，瞭解問題的本質與其涉及層面。

經濟學為一學年的課程，上學期的重點將會在介紹個體經濟學，而總體經濟學則於下學期介紹。本課程內容包含: 經濟學概論、經濟問題與供需法則、消費者理論（含跨期與不確定性下之消費選擇）、廠商理論與市場結構（含成本理論與競爭策略）、資訊不對稱、外部性與公共財。

Economics is the science that analyzes human behavior. This course will establish students’ basic concepts, ways of thinking and analysis methods in economics. The main purpose is to train students to use the systematic approach of economics to analyze various economic and social problems and understand the nature of the problems and their involved levels.

Economics is a one-year course. The focus of the first semester will be on individual economics, while general economics will be introduced in the second semester. The content of this course includes: Introduction to Economics, Economic Issues and the Law of Supply and Demand, Consumer Theory (including intertemporal and uncertainty consumption choices), Firm Theory and Market Structure (including cost theory and competitive strategy), Information Asymmetry, Externalities and Public Wealth.

經濟學是研究如何把稀少性資源，做最有效率配置的一門學問，旨在探討人們在有限的資源下如何做選擇？以及人們所選擇的活動，會造成什麼樣的結果？因此，經濟學也可說是一門研究選擇的科學。本課程介紹基本經濟學概念及分析工具，用來研究如何把有限資源配置到各個彼此互斥的用途上，以期對經濟活動（行為） 有深入的瞭解，課程內容涵蓋個體經濟學及總體經濟學。個體經濟內容包括: 經濟學與經濟課題、市場如何運作、家戶選擇行為之探討、廠商選擇行為與市場結構、市場失靈與政府角色、訊息不對稱等。總體經濟內容包括: 總體經濟探討議題、國民所得的意義與衡量、物價膨脹與失業、貨幣與金融市場、總合供需分析、財政政策與貨幣政策、國際貿易與金融等。

Economics is a discipline that studies how to allocate scarce resources in the most efficient manner. It aims to explore how people make choices with limited resources. And what are the consequences of the activities people choose? Therefore, economics can also be said to be a science that studies choices. This course introduces basic economic concepts and analytical tools, which are used to study how to allocate limited resources to mutually exclusive uses, in order to gain an in-depth understanding of economic activities (behavior). The course content covers individual economics and overall economics. Individual economic content includes: economics and economic topics, how the market operates, discussion of household choice behavior, manufacturer choice behavior and market structure, market failure and government role, information asymmetry, etc. General economic content includes: general economic discussion issues, the meaning and measurement of national income, price inflation and unemployment, currency and financial markets, aggregate supply and demand analysis, fiscal policy and monetary policy, international trade and finance, etc.
