The purpose of this course is designed to help students learn what they need to know about database management system and how they can be used to solve business problems in today Internet environment. At the end of this course, students should be able to evaluate a business situation, plan and build database applications. The major focuses of this course will be on the use of relational database technology for building applications, as it is what students will encounter in businesses today. Therefore, students need to master three specific areas of knowledge: database plan and design concepts, methodology, and the use of database analysis and design tools.

本課程之主要目的在於介紹資料庫管理系統的理論與實務應用等兩大部分為主題。今日網際網路的環境下電子商務與企業電子化成為重要趨勢，而料庫管理系統之應用更是構成電子化的主要基礎，此外，今日無論是任何一種形式之資訊服務都需要有系統的將其相關資料做整理與管理應用。其中資訊系統之規劃與設計必須應用系統化的資料庫管理模式來進行才不會產生混亂也才能提高資料的正確性與其使用的效率。因此本課程之將以資料庫之理論與其管理系統之實務應用介紹為主，其中資料庫管理系統將以MS-Access 為主要的軟體介紹。當然最後學生將學會如何應用VB技術來開發主從架構之資訊系統或在網際網路上應用ASP網頁來開發多層次之資訊系統以及其應用。

The main purpose of this course is to introduce the theory and practical application of database management systems, including the themes. In today's Internet environment, e-commerce and enterprise electronicization has become an important trend, and the application of database management system is the main basis for electronicization. In addition, today's information service requires a system to organize and manage its related information. The planning and design of the information system must be implemented using the system-based database management model to avoid confusion and improve the accuracy of data and its efficiency in use. Therefore, this course will focus on the theoretical discussion of the database and the practical application introduction of its management system, among which the database management system will be based on MS-Access as the main software introduction. Of course, in the end, students will learn how to apply VB technology to develop information systems based on the architecture or apply ASP web pages on the Internet to develop multi-level information systems and their applications.
