透過指導學生學習遺傳學應具備之實驗操作能力。包含果蠅實驗以學習孟德爾遺傳的原理。並學習分子遺傳學, 染色體遺傳學及族群遺傳學的分析方法.實習內容將包涵以性狀遺傳學為基礎的實際操作學習，配合以分子遺傳學為基礎的基本核酸化學的操作學習，這包括細菌整個核酸組成的抽取、光譜定量分析，以及質體的微量純化、限制脢的切割、核酸電泳的操作，最後並融入一些基本的族群遺傳學的實驗學習。
