教育目標 Course Target

Hume在1739-40匿名出版的鉅著A Treatise of Human Nature在當時並沒受到好評, 使得Hume大感失望。經反省後, Hume將Treatise加以改寫, 他改變了論文的形式, 使其更清晰, 保留了裡面的主要論點並加以精進。在這些重新改寫本裡, 有兩本重要的作品：An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding (1748), 稱為1st Enquiry, 和An Enquiry concerning the Principles of Morals (1751), 亦即the 2nd Enquiry。這門課將選讀1st Enquiry。

Hume's anonymous book A Treatise of Human Nature, published anonymously on 1739-40, was disappointed. After reflection, Hume adapted Treatise, and he changed the form of the essay to make it clearer, retaining the main points in it and improving. Among these re-written versions, there are two important works: An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding (1748), called 1st Enquiry, and An Enquiry concerning the Principles of Morals (1751), or the 2nd Enquiry. This course will be selected to read 1st Enquiry.
