讓．雅克．盧梭(Jean Jacques Rousseau)十八世紀法國重要的哲學家、政治思想家，其在《社會契約論》所提出的「人民主權」與民主政治的思想不僅影響了法國大革命，也是我們今日政治思想背後重要的理論基礎來源。事實上，《社會契約論》不僅是其政治理論主張的呈現，背後也涉及到盧梭對於所謂「人的真實狀態」的看法(有關「人的真實狀態」的討論主要呈現在《論人類不平等的起源與基礎》一書中)。換言之，是與其哲學主張緊密關聯在一起。這也是為何盧梭在《愛彌爾》中強調「必須透過人來研究社會，並且也透過社會來研究人：想要把政治與道德分開來處理的人，對於這兩者是永遠也不會明白的。」本課程主要是針對盧梭的《論科學與藝術》、《論人類不平等的起源和基礎》以及《社會契約論》三本書進行解讀，希望透過這樣的介紹，使得在了解盧梭「人民主權」與民主政治的思想要義外，還能進一步掌握其與盧梭哲學整個基礎之間的關聯。

let. Jacques. Jean Jacques Rousseau was an important French philosopher and political thinker in the 18th century. The ideas of "popular sovereignty" and democratic politics proposed by him in "The Social Contract" not only influenced the French Revolution, but are also an important source of theoretical foundation behind our political thinking today. In fact, "The Social Contract" is not only a presentation of his political theoretical propositions, but also involves Rousseau's views on the so-called "true state of man" (the discussion of "the true state of man" is mainly presented in the book "On the Origin and Basis of Human Inequality"). In other words, it is closely related to its philosophical proposition. This is why Rousseau emphasized in "Emile" that "society must be studied through people, and people must also be studied through society: those who want to deal with politics and morality separately will never understand the two." This course is mainly focused on Rousseau's "On Science and Art" ", "On the Origin and Foundation of Human Inequality" and "The Social Contract" are interpreted. I hope that through this introduction, in addition to understanding the essence of Rousseau's "popular sovereignty" and democratic politics, we can also further grasp its connection with the entire foundation of Rousseau's philosophy.
