This course deals with the development and the epistemology of political science. It has two basic objectives. First, it provides an introduction to the substantive, methodogical, and theoretical underpinnings of the political science discipline. This objective entails examining the major theoretical and methodological approaches employed by political scientists. The concepts and approaches scholars use in the analysis of political phenomena. Second, we will discuss in depth the mechanics of research design. Throughout the semester, you will (I hope) sharpen your analytical and critical skills. The reading load is heavy (but that‘s life in grad school!). You are responsible for a whole bunch of articles. This class is open to students who don’t register this class and only sit in the back of the class, but these students are responsible for some of the readings and help to summarize them. Readings are made handy for you.

This course is mainly divided into two parts. The first part is "Research Design"; the second part is "Knowledge Theory". Due to the needs of students, "Research Design" is also included. The goal of the course is to hope that students will complete the course. After taking this course, students can have a broad understanding of the theory of knowledge and methodology. Specifically, it is hoped that students will understand the knowledge system of political science and further implement it in research design. It is expected that students will be able to produce high-quality products in the future. Doctoral and master's theses and forum (journal) articles.
