所謂績效評估，是指運用數理統計、運籌學原理和特定指標體系，對照統一的標準，按照一定的程式，通過定量定性對比分析，對項目一定經營期間的經營效益和經營者業績做出客觀、公正和準確的綜合評判。
績效評估（performance appraisal），又稱績效評價、員工考核績效評估是一種正式的員工評估制度，它是通過系統的方法、原理來評定和測量員工在職務上的工作行為和工作成果。績效評估是企業管理者與員工之間的一項管理溝通活動。績效評估的結果可以直接影響到薪酬調整、獎金發放及職務升降等諸多員工的切身利益。
