本課程以鴉片戰爭至清末新政時期的中國外交為範圍，依各主題介紹相關主要研究成果，解釋架構及爭論重點。並介紹主要史料，引導學生使用一手外交檔案，練習撰寫報告。希望能藉此增進學生對近代中國外交史的理解，加強英文閱讀能力，學習使用一手史料，奠定進一步研究的基礎。

This course covers China's diplomacy from the Opium War to the New Deal period in the late Qing Dynasty. It introduces the relevant main research results according to each theme, explains the structure and the key points of the debate. It also introduces main historical materials, guides students to use first-hand diplomatic archives, and practices writing reports. It is hoped that this can enhance students' understanding of modern China's diplomatic history, strengthen their English reading ability, learn to use first-hand historical materials, and lay the foundation for further research.
