一、 使中文系研究生具備對西方文學批評理論與批評方法的基本瞭解。
二、 藉由對一手理論文本的研讀,使學生觀察到不同理論之間語境的差異與互通的脈絡。
三、 藉由議題的討論,說明理論文本在不同議題的應用方式,並研讀應用西洋文學批評理論的學術論文,使學生得以將理論應用於其所感興趣的研究課題。1. To equip graduate students in the Chinese Department with a basic understanding of Western literary criticism theories and methods.

西洋文學批評理論是解析文學、藝術、文化或社會的一種工具。文學的研究者可藉理論聚焦於特定視點、找到立論依據或建立論述架構,也可藉以跨領域連結不同藝術類別的文本,或將文本與產生該作品的文化情境脈絡化。雖然西洋文學批評理論產生的情境與生產出中國文學作品的文化脈絡不同,但華文學界卻能從中轉化出許多相應的本土化論述。因此,本課程擬透過對西方自古以來的重要文學批評理論的介紹、一手理論文本的研讀、論述應用分析與論述應用實作等方式,引領學生認識這些理論,共同探討這些理論應用在學生所從事之研究課題的可能。課程的第一階段將對西方文學批評理論流派、發展及主要理論文本做概論式介紹。在課程的第二階段,則以幾個重要議題為單元,共同環繞這些議題進行理論研讀,以檢視不同批評理論對該議題的闡釋方式,並討論華文學界如何在本土化的語境中關注這些議題及在相關研究應用理論的方式。所擬議題為暫定,在瞭解每位學生的研究興趣後再行調整。
Western literary criticism theory is a tool for analyzing literature, art, culture or society. Literary researchers can use theory to focus on a specific perspective, find a basis for argumentation, or establish a discussion structure. They can also use it to connect texts from different artistic categories across fields, or to contextualize texts with the cultural context in which the work was produced. Although the context in which Western literary criticism theories are produced is different from the cultural context in which Chinese literary works are produced, the Chinese literary community can transform many corresponding localized discussions from them. Therefore, this course intends to lead students to understand these theories through the introduction of important Western literary criticism theories since ancient times, the study of first-hand theoretical texts, the analysis of discourse applications, and the implementation of discourse applications, and jointly explore the application of these theories in the students' work. possible research topics. The first stage of the course will provide an introductory introduction to the theoretical schools, development and major theoretical texts of Western literary criticism.
