遷移是一種為了安頓與定住在一個地方的行為。由於人類與生俱有追求美好生活的本能,因此,遷移現象在人類歷史上亙古以來即已存在。直至近代,隨著十五世紀末西方航海探險活動及其所帶動的各項變遷,促使人類的遷移活動愈加頻仍,當代各區域間的政治、經濟與社會發展上的差異,更造成龐大的人口流動。本課程主要探討近現代人類的遷移活動,特別集中在猶太人、華人、愛爾蘭人、日本人、義大利人、印度人、盎格魯薩克遜人、拉美裔、非裔等民族的遷移歷史,分析討論促成人類遷移的原因、遷移所衍生的社會適應、民族文化認同等問題,並介紹研究遷移行為的理論與相關研究成果,引導學生以小見大,更深入理解與思考人類歷史發展的各種面向,期能培養本校學生具有析辨思維與組織整合能力,能欣賞與尊重多元文化差異,能尊重生命與關懷人類整體價值,具備國際視野能力。Moving is an act of Andon and fixed living in a place.
