(一)上學期以教授植栽設計基礎單元為主，下學期則以教授各類型植栽設計單元為主，各單元均與目前國內外植栽設計與植栽工程趨勢相互結合。
(二)介紹各類型植栽設計應用之觀賞植物，包括耐陰、草花、多肉、香草、地被、雜草、草坪、水生、本土、誘蝶、誘鳥植物等，以及植物各方面觀賞特性。
(三)介紹各種觀賞植物材料應用於各類景觀主題的設計配置手法。
(四)教導植栽美學、設計原則、植栽圍塑之空間感、植物與環境機能、維護管理、植物於不同環境適應性等，以及植栽設計表現法、植栽設計的落實，電腦軟體之應用，以及植栽選種、配置、施工及估價等專業能力之訓練。
(五)利用課堂上課、植栽實習空間操作、校園參與式教學、以及校外參觀等多種方式，驗證所學理論。(1) In the first period, it was mainly taught the basic unit of planting and planting design.
