This course allows students to learn photography from a creative thinking perspective.
Instead of letting high-tech cameras lead you to create without thinking
Photography is a craft as well as an art. The process is to train students to use various photographic equipment and equipment, combined with appropriate light and shadow control, to obtain the best images. Art is to cultivate students' ability to "see", how to see things, how to observe things, how to turn what they see into the best image presentation, and at the same time, they can also use the beautiful images they see as their own appreciation and spiritual treasure. Resonance. This is the quality a design student should have.
With the cameras produced by current technology, no matter whether you have studied photography or not, you can take a clear and well-exposed photo as long as you press the shutter button. However, when taking photos, you must understand that people are taking pictures, not the camera. The course teaches students to understand the meaning of aperture control, the timing of shutter use, and the choice of lens length, so that they can decide how to think and capture images based on their own judgment, rather than simply following the camera's design to take photos.
Nowadays, photography is mainly based on digital photography. Almost no one uses traditional film photography and is facing the fate of being eliminated. However, regardless of digital or traditional photography, the principle of image capture is the same. The difference is in its recording. Methods, and methods of post-production presentation and expression. Digital is mainly based on computer image processing design and output. Traditionally, you need to learn the techniques of developing and displaying film. This course focuses on traditional photography. The main contents include the understanding and application of cameras (how to take good photos), lighting techniques (scene light, studio lighting), darkroom techniques (developing film, developing photos) and the application of digital photography.
In addition to the teaching content, this course also includes studio photography practice, darkroom film development operations and photography teaching video assistance. There is no written test. The mid-term assignment is 5 photos that I took and developed by myself. The final assignment is a digital DM that combines the photos I took.
The teaching goal of this course is positioned at basic photography, rather than advanced photography applications. Therefore, proficient operation and application of the camera, understanding of the relationship between aperture and depth of field, shutter and exposure control, product photography skills and lighting methods, The implementation of development and playback in the darkroom, etc. As for the advanced application of digital photography, it is left to computer digital image processing to learn.
