課程將介紹古希臘羅馬時代的考古發現與藝術作品,包括建築、雕塑、繪畫與陶器畫、錢幣及珠寶。它們是歷史的一部分,紀念人與事,或者反映當時的物質文化。西方學界對此的鑽研深且廣,本課程將介紹最新的認識,例如古希臘雕塑往往飾以鮮艷的顏色,而非溫克爾曼 (Johann Joachim Winckelmann, 1717-1768) 所說之「高貴的單純與靜穆的偉大」。課程將呈現藝術品與當時社會的關係,並用Google Earth標出遺跡或藝術品的所在地或發現地。課程也將指出古希臘羅馬藝術的風格與元素如何影響後來與當代的藝術。
The course will introduce archaeological discoveries and artworks from ancient Greek times, including architecture, sculpture, painting and pottery painting, money and jewelry. They are part of history, remembering people and things, or reflecting the material culture at that time. The Western academic community has a deep and extensive knowledge of this. This course will introduce the latest knowledge. For example, ancient Greek sculptures are often made of colorful colors rather than what Johann Joachim Winckelmann (1717-1768) said, "a expensive single ingredient. and the tranquil sacredness.” The course will present the art product’s relationship with society at that time, and use Google Earth to mark the location or location of the art product. The course will also point out how the style and elements of ancient Greek Roman art influence later and contemporary art.
