在和緩氣候變遷與符合水資源永續利用之全球性環境保護原則下，下水道（包括：雨水及污水下水道）建設，儼然成為增進都市降雨之滲透、貯留，以減緩洪峰，並緩和都市熱島化和增加旱天地下水滲出，以補注河川流量；以及預防生活環境品質惡劣，河川水體污染嚴重，影響國際形象及國家競爭力等之現代化都市公共建設之一。本課程為因應此時代性之環保潮流，訓練學生從事下水道系統調查、評估、規劃、設計、建置與操作維護管理的觀念及能力，以期學以致用、貢獻本質學能加速下水道建設之腳步。

Under the global environmental protection principles of mitigating climate change and complying with the sustainable use of water resources, the construction of sewers (including rainwater and sewage sewers) has become one of the modern urban public constructions that enhances the infiltration and storage of urban rainfall to slow down flood peaks, alleviate urban heat islands and increase groundwater seepage in dry weather to replenish river flows; and prevent poor living environment quality and serious river water pollution, which affects international image and national competitiveness. In response to the environmental protection trend of this era, this course trains students in the concepts and abilities of sewer system investigation, assessment, planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance management, with a view to applying what they have learned and contributing essential knowledge to accelerate the pace of sewer construction.
