《世說新語》是一本相當難以歸類的著作，它是中國小說史上志人小說的代表，也是研究魏晉時期歷史不可或缺的文獻，更是研究魏晉思想乃至魏晉風度、士人心態及文化活動的重要資料。本課程試圖從文學、思想、歷史等角度，使學生從《世說新語》的內容研讀中更加認識魏晉時代，並了解《世說新語》在各領域中的重要性。
"Shishuoxinyu" is a book that is quite difficult to classify. It is a representative of aspirational novels in the history of Chinese novels. It is also an indispensable document for studying the history of the Wei and Jin Dynasties. It is also an important material for studying the thoughts of the Wei and Jin Dynasties and even the style, mentality and cultural activities of the Wei and Jin Dynasties. This course attempts to enable students to better understand the Wei and Jin Dynasties through the study of the content of Shishuo Xinyu from the perspectives of literature, thought, history, etc., and to understand the importance of Shishuo Xinyu in various fields.
