The main objective of this course is to introduce students to various aspects of academic texts on the theoretical philosophy of architectural design. Students will be introduced to the features of academic texts. They will also read different kinds of academic texts related to architectural theory and philosophy and discuss the contents of these texts. Students will learn to approach academic texts on architectural theory critically and at the same time strengthen their skills in reading, analyzing and discussing these books and articles. Active participation is essential to the success of this class. The main objective of this course is to introduce students to various aspects of academic texts on the theoretical philosophy of architectural design.
This course aims to combine the goals cultivated by the department, improve students' critical thinking and verification abilities, explore their initiation, influence and reference to the architecture design through philosophical texts related to the architecture, and further rethink the multiple meanings that architecture design may bear. The content of this course is divided into the following three parts. (I) Philosophy scope and basic problems: From basic knowledge such as philosophical overview, philosophical history and logic, explore the philosophical scope and basic problems involved in the construction design process, including space, form, function and aesthetics, and establish the foundation for philosophical and architectural design dialogue. (II) Diagrammatic methods, body and venue: Based on the core texts of phenomenal learners such as Husser, Mellodeti and Heidegger, we reflect on the profound impact of phenomenal learning on architectural thinking since the 20th century, and pay special attention to the importance of body experience, perception and field meaning in design. (III) Contemporary philosophical text selection: Facing the problems or referenced philosophical research thought about in contemporary architecture, the course will select important texts of contemporary philosophers such as Li Ota, Fu Ke, Delez and Desheda, explore more possibilities of architectural meaning, and stimulate students to re-examine the conceptual construction and ideological creation process in architectural design from the perspective of philosophy. Through the above planning, this course hopes to explore philosophical theories and methods to create multi-dimensional thinking of architecture design and provide creative and critical ideological foundations.
