本課程在介紹廣為公共事務實務參與者與研究者用以從事決策制定及社會科學研究之基本數量方法與原則。社會科學方法的本質在於嘗試從實證資料中以建立通則的方式來了解並預測人為現象；對一般研究者而言，其最感興趣的通則是涉及變項之間的關係，而對於變項間關係之探討則始自對變項之操作化及量化和分析。This course introduces basic quantitative methods and principles for public affairs practice participants and researchers to formulate decisions and social science research. The essence of social science methods is to try to understand and predict human phenomena by establishing general rules from the actual data; for ordinary researchers, the most interesting general rule is the relationships involving changes, and the exploration of relationships between changes begins with the operation, quantification and analysis of changes.
