《紅樓夢》是以近現代白話文寫成的章回小說，其內容集中國傳統文化之大成，代表了中國小說的發展高峰。《紅樓夢》吸納傳統中國文學與文化的涵蓋面甚廣，本學期將從《紅樓夢》專題出發，帶領同學從不同角度來觀察中國的文學傳統與創造，並練習相關的主題寫作。《紅樓夢》內容思想涵蓋中國哲學傳統：儒、 釋、道三家，精深博大，本課亦試圖將《紅樓夢》置於中國思想傳統中，檢視其文化意義及人生觀照。
"Red House Dream" is a chapter novel written in modern vernacular writing. Its content focuses on the great achievements of national traditional culture and represents the peak of development of Chinese novels. "Red Building Dream" absorbs the coverage of traditional Chinese literature and culture. During this period, it will be developed from the topic of "Red Building Dream", leading classmates to observe China's literary traditions and creation from different angles, and practice related theme writing. The content and ideas of "Red Building Dream" cover the Chinese philosophical tradition: Confucianism, Gui and Taoism, which are profound and extensive. This course also attempts to place "Red Building Dream" in the Chinese ideology tradition to view its cultural meaning and life views.
