本課程除探討近代以來海外華族移民社會的形成與發展，也將著重海外華足與母國之間政、經、社方面的緊密關係與文化上的延續，輔以居留地之政經社會的變遷，探討華族與居留地社會在不同時空中的互動模式，引導學生以小見大，更深入理解與思考人類歷史。
透過本課程之學習，將不僅以知識傳遞為限，期能培養本校學生具有聆聽、表達及溝通能力，分析、推理及整合能力，欣賞多元文化能力，尊重生命與關懷環境的態度，具備國際視野能力，更能融通「求真、篤信、力行」之東海精神。In addition to exploring the formation and development of overseas Chinese immigrant societies in modern times, this course will also focus on the close relationship between overseas Chinese and Chinese and their motherland and cultural extension, and use the political and social changes of residence areas to explore the interaction modes of the Chinese and residence areas in different time and space, guiding students to see the big picture and think deeply about human history.
Through the learning of this course, we will not only rely on knowledge transmission, but also cultivate students in this school to have the ability to listen, express and communicate, analyze, reason and integrate, appreciate the ability to multicultural culture, respect the attitude of life and the environment, have the ability to prepare for international vision, and can also integrate the Donghai spirit of "seeking truth, trust, and practicing".
