設計基礎是大一學生非常重要的入門課程。本課將強調三個面向的學習重點：第一、設計禮儀素養，培養學生具備良好的學習態度與設計素養，提升個人之設計素質，此外，著重學生對於自我喜好與品味之認識，從傾聽自我之聲音到與他人產生共鳴。第二、形的發展構成係針對形態從平面到立體的轉換，設計作品從抽象到具象的詮釋。第三、材料認識與應用方面，讓學生學習運用不同材質展現在設計作品之中，理解材料及應用限制。課程目標在於培養學生的設計禮儀素養、創意思考、美感、設計執行力、自我學習與設計熱忱，使學生具備銜接大二設計課程之基礎設計能力。

Fundamentals of Design is a very important introductory course for freshman students. This course will emphasize three aspects of learning: first, design etiquette literacy, to cultivate students' good learning attitude and design literacy, and improve their personal design qualities. In addition, it will focus on students' understanding of their own preferences and tastes, from listening to their own voices to resonating with others. Second, the development and composition of form is aimed at the transformation of form from plane to three-dimensional, and the interpretation of design works from abstract to concrete. Third, in terms of material understanding and application, students learn to use different materials to display in design works and understand the limitations of materials and applications. The goal of the course is to cultivate students' design etiquette literacy, creative thinking, aesthetics, design execution, self-study and design enthusiasm, so that students have the basic design ability to connect to the sophomore design course.

本課程為工業設計系核心設計課程中的入門課程，授課對象為大一學生，旨在引導剛開始接觸設計領域的學生藉由造形演變、材質運用、色彩規劃、空間建構與設計情境等各項設計實作練習，使同學具備未來進行產品設計之基礎能力。本課程注重學生的獨立思考與組織創作能力，因此乃由三位老師共同擔綱授課，採用小組教學的方式進行，每位老師負責指導12∼15名學生，在課堂上老師能充分掌握每位學生每個設計階段的學習表現，並與學生間產生良好的互動。為了激發創意潛能與培養團隊精神，本課程亦搭配課題設計，每學期安排一項團隊習作課題，使學生學習如何在團隊中表達個人主張，同時取得良好的溝通協調。本課程為上下學期一貫的學年課程，因此在課程的規劃上，上學期主要著重於設計性向的啟發與美學認知的養成，主要透過感官﹧直觀、知覺﹧解構、表徵﹧建構、象徵﹧還原等創作練習，以鍛鍊學生的基本造形能力。下學期則目標在建立與大二產品設計課程銜接的設計實務概念，因此在課題的設計上著重於材質、尺度、機構、表面處理等內容，主要透過單一材質運用與商品化練習、透明材質與立體構成運用綜合練習、與建築、景觀跨系共同習作、小家電機構分析與設計練習等內容，建立對產品設計的基本認知。

This course is an introductory course in the core design courses of the Department of Industrial Design. It is taught to first-year students. It aims to guide students who are new to the design field through practical design exercises such as shape evolution, material use, color planning, space construction and design situations, so that students can acquire the basic abilities for future product design. This course focuses on students' independent thinking and organizational creation abilities. Therefore, it is taught by three teachers and is conducted in a group teaching manner. Each teacher is responsible for guiding 12 to 15 students. In the classroom, the teacher can fully grasp each student's learning performance at each design stage and generate good interaction with the students. In order to stimulate creative potential and cultivate team spirit, this course is also equipped with a project design, and a team exercise project is arranged every semester so that students can learn how to express their personal opinions in a team and achieve good communication and coordination. This course is a consistent academic year course for both semesters. Therefore, in terms of course planning, the last semester mainly focuses on the inspiration of design aptitude and the cultivation of aesthetic cognition. It mainly exercises students’ basic modeling abilities through creative exercises such as sensory, intuitive, perceptual, deconstruction, representation, construction, symbolism and reduction. In the next semester, the goal is to establish design practice concepts that are connected with the sophomore product design course. Therefore, the design of the topic focuses on materials, scale, structure, surface treatment, etc., mainly through the use of single materials and commercialization exercises, comprehensive exercises in the use of transparent materials and three-dimensional compositions, cross-department exercises with architecture and landscape, small home appliance structural analysis and design exercises, etc., to establish a basic understanding of product design.
