本課程以概述方式呈現，結合周遭時事與現象，期使學生理解台灣由日據時期至黨外時期之左派思潮與白色恐怖，培養學生之專業興趣和以古鑑今之能力，並進一步提昇學生反省批判與獨立思考之精神。This course is presented in an overview, combining the surrounding current situation and phenomena, and aims to enable students to understand the leftist thoughts and white horrors in Taiwan from the Japanese to the outside world, cultivate students' professional interests and ability to capture the present through the past, and further enhance students' spirit of reflection, criticism and independent thinking.
在中國現代化的歷程中，民初以來，國共鬥爭乃是主流。台灣在蔣介石政權退守之後，事實上也未能脫離國共互爭的時代大脈動。惟因光復之後，中共台灣省工會蔡孝乾(蔡乾)被捕，並且投降、招供，致使共黨在台組織全盤瓦解。復以韓戰之後，美蘇爭霸之世界大勢已定，蔣介石政權在台灣成為美國堅定盟友，在美國支持下，共黨左派勢力被搜捕殆盡。因此，左派在台灣政治發展上，似乎被遺忘了。但是，相對於美國主導的西敏寺民主，左派永遠是台灣政治發展上另一重要選項，實不容忽視。而蔣介石在捕殺共黨份子，所造成的「白色恐怖」，事實上是以左派為對象，而遠過於以台獨為對象。職是，在台灣民主及人權史上，探討「白色恐怖」如不能免，那麼探討左派應更為焦點。
In the course of China's modernization, since the beginning of the Republic of China, the struggle between the Communist Party of China has been the mainstream. After the resignation of the regime of Qi Jieshi, Taiwan failed to resign from the great movement of the times when the Communist Party of China was in fact. However, after the revenge, Cai Xiaoqian (Cai Qian) of the Taiwan Provincial Trade Union of the Communist Party of China was arrested and surrendered and confessed, causing the entire Taiwan organization to collapse. After the Korean War, the world power of the US-Soviet war was decided, and the Chia-Kei Shi's regime became a decisive ally of the United States in Taiwan. With the support of the United States, the left-wing forces of the Communist Party were almost completely arrested. Therefore, the left seems to have been forgotten in Taiwan's political development. However, compared with the Westminster Democracy led by the United States, the left is always another important option in Taiwan's political development and cannot be ignored. The "white terror" caused by the killing of Communist Party members is actually targeted by the left, but far more than Taiwan alone. The job is that in Taiwan's history of democracy and human rights, if you cannot avoid exploring "white terror", then exploring the left should be more focused.
