本課程的為生命科學系，大一新生的入門課程。本課程之內容將以探討細胞的功能為主。其內容涵蓋組成細胞的分子組成、基因的組成、細胞的構造、細胞的功能以及細胞之分裂的機制。本課程之教材為Campbell Biology 所著的原文書。本課程之目的在於使大一的同學能夠具有整體的細胞觀念，並熟悉瞭解生物學上的英文用語，希望本課程結束後，學生具有相當的基礎可以閱讀及學習以英文書寫的分子細胞相關的知識。This course is the entry course for freshmen in the Department of Life Sciences. The content of this course will focus on exploring the functions of cells. Its content covers the molecular composition of cells, the composition of genes, the structure of cells, the functions of cells, and the mechanism of cell division. The textbook for this course is the original book written by Campbell Biology. The purpose of this course is to enable freshmen to have a comprehensive cellular concept and to be familiar with the English language in biology. I hope that after the course is over, students will have a relatively basic knowledge about molecular cells written in English.
藉講演、視聽教材、野外觀察與實習，使學生對植物的結構,生理調節, 微生物及台灣生物多樣性有初步之認識。此課程開設之目的，在使所有生物系之學生，不論其未來學術興趣是分子生物、遺傳工程、生態保育或甚至是跨學科之領域，皆能因對生物之多樣性有充分認識，而能對生命現象有完整的認知。藉對地球上現生物種大尺度的掌握，而能中肯的了解生命現象，不會只將對生命之了解或認知侷限於分子或物理化學層次之間，過渡簡約化對生命之認知，以致自我限制了將來的發展。
Through lectures, listening textbooks, field observation and practice, students have a preliminary understanding of the structure, physiological adjustments, microorganisms and the diversity of Taiwan organisms. The purpose of this course is to enable all students in biological departments to have a complete understanding of the phenomena of life, regardless of their future academic interest in molecular biology, genetic engineering, bioconservation or even interdisciplinary fields. By mastering the large scale of living creatures on the earth and being able to understand the phenomena of life in a pertinent way, we will not only limit our understanding or knowledge of life to the level of molecular or physical and chemical science, but will simply transform our understanding of life, which will limit our development.
