1.讓學生了解環境教育的目標(如下)
環境覺知和敏感度、環境概念知識、環境價值觀與態度、環境行動技能與環境行動經驗。環境教育實施原則包含：整體性、終生教育、科技整合、主動參與解決問題、世界觀與鄉土觀的均衡、永續發展與國際合作，透過這些目標及施行原則，使學生們對整個環境有更清楚的認識，有更具體的作為，及良好的實踐及行動。
2.促進環境教育之教學研究與推廣活動,針對台灣環境問題、政策及其教育課題做討論,目前刊載的內容有環境保育與教育政策、環境教育原理與實務、環境教育規劃、環保與生態教材教法、環境教學與活動計畫等主題。

推動環境教育是有方法、有原則的，需有清楚的教學目標與合適的教學法與教材。瞭解不同年齡的教學策略及準則，選擇合適的教材和運用多元的教學方法，才能使學習者主動建構環境經驗、提升環境素養，產生自發性的教育行動。
