本課程將從專利的起源、發展、爭訟案例等為引，教授如何檢索與閱讀專利資訊、分析彙整專利文件；接著，將教授一系列以搭配設計實例進行專利地圖之製作分析。This course will start from the origin, development, and litigation cases of patents, etc., and teach how to search and read patent information, analyze and compile patent documents; then, it will teach a series of design examples to create and analyze patent maps.
目前設計領域中的學生構想，總是讓人驚艷，然而有許多構想到最後無法實施量產販售，但常常又會看到其他同學想到相同的東西，因此會覺得沒有保障，也因科技新產品及新技術不斷推陳出新，智慧財產權已成為國際間競爭優勢的決戰利器，如何使學生辛苦的設計與研發成果，得以藉由專利權的保護獲得保障及面對未來可能遭致的侵權訴訟。本課程將帶領學生瞭解何謂專利資訊、如何有效率進行專利檢所、閱讀專利文件與分析專利內容，並教授如何製作專利地圖，藉此可以進行案例專利迴避設計或專利佈局的技巧，最後，嘗試撰寫專利說明書來申請各自產品專利。學習本課程後，可將後續研究之產品領域皆可製作專利地圖並加以規劃設計研發之方向，亦可解讀專利地圖所帶領出來的相關資訊。
