敘事學源於法國，是一門有關敘事、敘事結構，以及這兩者如何影響人們知覺的理論及研究。她以各種被敘述後的文本（narrated text）為研究對象，包括虛構文體（小說學、詩歌等）、紀實文體（史學、學術出版品等），以及戲劇結構、情節發展的工具、角色描寫、場景、類型及文學技巧等議題。結合這門學科的理論知識，對於文學研究有莫大的助益，不僅可以提升研究生解析文學作品的能力，進而充實研究方法的運用，豐富研究視野。
本課程概分成兩個階段：敘事理論的基礎建構、敘事理論與中國文學的對話。希望建立敘事學基本理論觀念、融通敘事學分析方法、具備敘事學方法解析文學文本的能力、以敘事學理論進行文本對話及溝通等四項為教學目的。Narratology originated in France. It is a theory and study about narrative, narrative structure, and how they affect people's perception. She studies various narrated texts, including fictional genres (fiction, poetry, etc.), documentary genres (history, academic publications, etc.), as well as drama structures, plot development tools, character descriptions, Topics such as setting, genre, and literary techniques. This course is roughly divided into two stages: the basic construction of narrative theory, and the dialogue between narrative theory and Chinese literature. It is hoped that the four teaching purposes are to establish the basic theoretical concepts of narratology, integrate narrative analysis methods, have the ability to analyze literary texts using narrative methods, and use narrative theory to conduct text dialogue and communication.
