在當代西方哲學中，猶太思想家處於一個特殊的位置，他們既在猶太傳統與歐陸思潮間擺盪，也在猶太選民的特殊主義與客觀真理的普遍主義間徘徊，導致其思想往往呈現出融合與抵抗兼俱的特質，這樣的張力使得他們所創造出來的哲學雖然經常很難自成一全面而圓融的體系，卻表現出高度的吸引力與感染力，更往往能一針見血地指出西方文化之弊端。本門課程選擇兩位當代猶太思想家：馬丁布伯(Martin Buber)與赫舍爾(Abraham Joshua Heschel)。他們同屬猶太教中的哈西德主義(Hasidism)傳統，這傳統帶有神秘主義特質，關切內在生活，致力於發揚猶太靈性，同時也開放地與世界其他傳統對話，在針砭當今世俗化的生活方式上頗有見地。本課程要帶領同學分別閱讀這兩位思想家的兩本小書，深入其思想底蘊，期望引領同學進入迷人而深富啟發性的猶太思想世界。In contemporary Western philosophy, Jewish thinkers are in a special position. They are not only oscillating between Jewish tradition and European ideological trends, but also between the particularism of Jewish voters and the universalism of objective truth. As a result, their thoughts often show integration and resistance. This tension makes the philosophies they create, although often difficult to form a comprehensive and integrated system, show a high degree of attraction and appeal, and can often point out the shortcomings of Western culture sharply. . This course selects two contemporary Jewish thinkers: Martin Buber and Abraham Joshua Heschel. They both belong to the Hasidism tradition in Judaism. This tradition has mystical qualities, is concerned with inner life, and is committed to promoting Jewish spirituality. At the same time, it is also open to dialogue with other traditions in the world, criticizing today's secular life. Very insightful in approach. This course will lead students to read two short books by these two thinkers respectively, and deepen their ideological connotations, hoping to lead students into the fascinating and deeply inspiring world of Jewish thought.
