教育目標 Course Target

現代化的國家,幾乎沒有例外,都有大學的存在。因此,就此一意義而言,大學的發展史也幾乎等同於近代文明的發展史。  「大學」當然不是現代的產物,它在中國、日本與歐洲都有悠遠的發展傳統,承載著前人對「理想生活」的想像,以及他們為此而付出的血與汗的努力。就最近一百年來說,不管是東方或西方,都難得有團體像「大學」那樣,承擔著如許沉重的社會期待,以及總是能夠激發人們的想像力。置身二十一世紀初,回過頭去看看前人的腳蹤,探究他們對於「理想大學」所付出的努力和寄予的厚望,無疑可以擴大及豐富我們對於「大學」的想像及認識。 沿著歷史的足跡,尋覓近代大學的發展歷程,瞭解「知識人」在其中所扮演的角色,特別注意「人文主義教育」的地位,是這一門課程開設的目的。 我們期待藉由seminar的形式,透過教師講授、文獻閱讀、課堂討論、論文構思及寫作,幫助同學認識自己的過去,反省自身及當代,並進而勇於承擔未來。Modernized countries, almost no exception, have universities. Therefore, in this sense, the history of development in universities is almost the same as the history of development in modern civilization. "University" is of course not a modern product. It has a long-standing development tradition in China, Japan and Europe, carrying forward the imagination of the "ideal life" of its predecessors and their blood and sweat efforts to do so. In the past 100 years, both Eastern and Western have little to do with groups like "university", carrying such heavy social expectations and always inspiring people's imagination. In the early 21st century, when we look back at the eyes of our predecessors, and explore their efforts and high expectations for "ideal university", we can undoubtedly expand and enrich our imagination and understanding of "university". Following the historical perspective, we can see the development process of modern universities, understand the role of "knowledge" in it, and pay special attention to the status of "humanistic education", which is the purpose of this course. We look forward to helping students understand their past, reflect on themselves and the present, and be brave to inherit the future through teacher lectures, literature reading, class discussions, literary thinking and writing through seminar.
