本課程規劃之理念，在培養學生理解短篇小說類型的藝術特徵及重要作家代表作品的了解與評價，以增進對文學的認識能力。
本課程預期學習目標，共分為五項，具體內容如下：
（1）認識與掌握短篇小說的藝術。
（2）培養小說分析批評能力。
（3）短篇小說理論探討。
（4）英美短篇小說翻譯作品簡介分析。
（5）中國現代短篇小說作品分析。The concept of this course is to cultivate students' understanding of the artistic characteristics of short stories and the understanding and evaluation of representative works of important writers in order to improve their understanding of literature.
The expected learning goals of this course are divided into five categories, with the specific contents as follows:
(1) Know and master the art of short stories.
(2) Cultivate novel analysis and criticism skills.
(3) Exploration of short stories.
(4) Introduction and analysis of translated works of British and American short stories.
(5) Analysis of Chinese modern short stories.
