智慧財產法主要包括專利法，商標法，著作權法以及營業秘密法，而因為在企業經營最常觸及的是專利權與商標權的問題，故其中又以專利法與商標法是最為重要，法律系的學生畢業後如欲在企業界任職，即必須對該等法科有最基本的理解。另外，智慧財產法未來將成為司法官及律師國考的選試科目之一，因此對於有意參加該等國考的同學對此等法科亦不可忽視。基此，本課程的主要目標有兩個，一個是希望讓修習的同學們對於專利法與商標法的基礎理論有最起碼的理解；另一個是希望讓修習的同學們可以對實務上的運作有基本的概念。Intellectual property law mainly includes patent law, trademark law, copyright law and trade secret law. Since the most common issues involved in business operations are patent rights and trademark rights, patent law and trademark law are the most important. If students of this department want to work in the corporate world after graduation, they must have the most basic understanding of these legal subjects. 本課程係在教授智慧財產權法的兩大領域，即專利法與商標法，專利法著重在保護文化的創新，商標法則著重在保護正當競爭交易秩序，是企業經營不可或缺的利器。在時間分配上，專利法約佔總授課時間的3/5，商標法則佔約2/5。在授課內容上除了法規理論的講解外，亦會配合實際案例的說明，使修習者不但可對此兩門法律的規範內容有基本的認識，而且對實務上的操作有一般性的理解。
This course teaches the two major areas of intellectual property law, namely patent law and trademark law. Patent law focuses on protecting cultural innovation, while trademark law focuses on protecting the order of fair competition and transactions, and is an indispensable tool for business operations. In terms of time allocation, patent law accounts for about 3/5 of the total teaching time, and trademark law accounts for about 2/5.
