(一)介紹各類型植栽設計應用之觀賞植物，包括耐陰、草花、香草、地被、雜草、草坪、水生、本土、誘蝶、誘鳥植物等，以及植物各方面觀賞特性。
(二)介紹各種觀賞植物材料應用於各類景觀主題的設計配置手法。
(三)教導植栽美學、設計原則、植栽圍塑之空間感、植物與環境機能、維護管理、植物於不同環境適應性等，以及植栽設計表現法、植栽設計的落實，電腦軟體之應用，以及植栽選種、配置、施工及估價等專業能力之訓練。
(四)利用課堂上課、校園空間(植栽實習場)綠化操作、校園參與式教學、以及校外參觀等多種方式，驗證所學理論。(1) Introduce various types of ornamental plants for planting design and application, including shade-tolerant, grass flowers, herbs, ground covers, weeds, lawns, aquatic, native, butterfly-attracting, bird-attracting plants, etc., as well as various ornamental characteristics of plants.
(2) Introduce the design and configuration techniques of various ornamental plant materials used in various landscape themes.
(3) Teach planting aesthetics, design principles, the sense of space surrounding planting, plant and environmental functions, maintenance and management, plant adaptability to different environments, etc., as well as planting design expression methods, implementation of planting design, and computer software application, as well as training in professional abilities such as planting selection, arrangement, construction and valuation.
(4) Use various methods such as classroom lessons, campus space (planting practice field) greening operations, campus participatory teaching, and off-campus visits to verify the theories learned.
