本課程的目標在於探究所謂的「中產階級」這個概念在歷史上的生成及流變，以及中產階級在台灣本土的發展。中產階級是西方資本主義發展的脈絡中的特定社會結構的產物，在概念的生成上是徹底西方的；因此，當我們把這個概念引介到台灣本土社會之時，必然會有所變化，因為台灣的社會階級當然有其自身的特殊性。本課程除了介紹中產階級這個概念在歷史上的生成背景之外，也將探討台灣中產階級的形成的歷史、社會背景，並探討台灣中產階級的特殊性。

The purpose of this course is to explore the generation and transformation of the concept of "middle-level" in history, as well as the development of the middle-level in Taiwan. The middle-level is the product of a specific social structure in the development of Western capitalism, and it is far from the Western concept generation; therefore, when we introduce this concept to the local society in Taiwan, there will inevitably be some changes, because Taiwan's social level certainly has its own particularity. In addition to introducing the historical generative background of the concept of middle-level, this course will also explore the historical and social background of the formation of Taiwan middle-level, and explore the particularity of Taiwan middle-level.
