The course is organized in 2 semesters and designed for the students to understand both the theory and practice of International Organization(IOs). It begins by reviewing the main theoretical perspectives of IOs, and hopefully leads to the different understandings of IOs derived from these theories. The course, then, follows by focusing on specific IOs from the League of Nations to UN(and to the WTO hopefully), although regional IOs are studied as well. The goal of this course is to lead students to understand today's important international organizations. The focus is on the United Nations, including the historical background and purpose of its establishment, the spirit of the Charter, organizational structure, functions and tasks, and the challenges it faces. Classes are held in the form of teacher lectures and discussions with classmates. The content design is mainly based on speculation, so it will be supplemented by international relations theory.
