此實驗課配合脊椎動物學正課進度，讓學生在操作過程中更了解正課所敎授之脊椎動物基本知識及分類，並學習如何鑑定及辨識本地脊椎動物及多樣性。同時也授予戰野調查技術基本知識，使學生具備基礎研究的能力
