Introduction to Western Literature
教育目標 Course Target
課程以中文系同學之需要而設計（有一年以上文學專業知識訓練但未修過西方文學課程者）。
一、介紹西方文學傳統：以精讀作品文本與歷史述說方式進行。
二、反思中國文學課題：以比較文學方式進行中西文學對照與反思。
The course is designed to meet the needs of students in the Chinese Department (those who have more than one year of professional training in literature but have not taken any Western literature courses).
1. Introduction to Western literary tradition: through intensive reading of text and historical narrative.
2. Reflection on Chinese literature topics: comparison and reflection on Chinese and Western literature in the form of comparative literature.

（一）詩：Holderlin, Wordsworth, Shelley, Keats, Whitman, Dickinson, Baudelaire, Rimbaud
（二）小說：史威夫特、托爾斯泰、莫泊桑、契柯夫、卡夫卡、卡謬
（三）文學史：呂健忠、李奭學編譯《西洋文學概論》、《近代西洋文學》
Textbooks and main reference books:
(1) Poems: Holderlin, Wordsworth, Shelley, Keats, Whitman, Dickinson, Baudelaire, Rimbaud
(2) Novels: Swift, Tolstoy, Maupassant, Chekhov, Kafka, Camus
(3) Literary history: "Introduction to Western Literature" and "Modern Western Literature" compiled by Lu Jianzhong and Li Xixue
