伊東豐雄的台中大都會歌劇院設計是一劃時代的作品，其空間形式超越了到目前為止的現代建築範型的光譜，也對現代建築做出最激進有力的回應； 而且，它也澈底挑戰當代既有的構築概念與營造技術。 它是繼路斯義教堂之後，距離我們最近的世界大師傑作，可以近距離觀察這作品的建造與實現，有幸而遇此良機，因此善加把握以深入堂奧多多學習，而在2011學期度(2012年春)開始於建築系開設「台中大都會歌劇院設計及施工」，2012秋開設「伊東豐雄與台中歌劇院」。 本學期(2013春)繼續開課，結合本系專任老師兩位，並邀聘兼任老師兩位(各擔任該工程工地營造總負責及監造建築師代表)，共同授課。
本課程目標為:
1. 對本作品設計意涵及施工執行之深入了解.
2. 藉由施工圖比對及模型製作掌握營建各部門之系統整合.
3. 同類型案例之比較研究.

The Taichung Metropolitan Song Academy design in Yidong is a contemporary work, with its spatial form beyond the modern building scale to date and also provides the most intense and powerful response to modern building; and it also completely challenges the existing architectural concepts and construction technologies of the contemporary era. It is the work of the world's teachers closest to us after the Church of the Lust. We can observe the construction and reality of this work in close proximity. We are fortunate to encounter this opportunity. Therefore, we are good at learning in the church. In the 2011 period (spring of 2012), we started the "Design and Construction of Taichung Metropolitan Songs and Drama Academy" in the construction department, and the "Idong Fengxiong and Taichung Songs and Drama Academy" in the autumn of 2012. During this period (Spring of 2013), the courses continued, combining the two special teachers in this department, and invited two teachers to serve as the general responsible persons of the construction site of the project (each responsible for the construction site and the representatives of the construction engineers) to jointly teach the course.
The purpose of this course is:
1. In-depth understanding of the design meaning of this work and the implementation of construction.
2. Master the system integration of various departments through construction diagramming and model production.
3. Comparative study of cases of the same type.
