伊東豐雄的台中大都會歌劇院設計是一劃時代的作品，其空間形式超越了到目前為止的現代建築範型的光譜，也對現代建築做出最激進有力的回應； 而且，它也澈底挑戰當代既有的構築概念與營造技術。 它是繼路斯義教堂之後，距離我們最近的世界大師傑作，可以近距離觀察這作品的建造與實現，有幸而遇此良機，因此善加把握以深入堂奧多多學習，而在2011學期度(2012年春)開始於建築系開設「台中大都會歌劇院設計及施工」，2012秋開設「伊東豐雄與台中歌劇院」。 本學期(2013春)繼續開課，結合本系專任老師兩位，並邀聘兼任老師兩位(各擔任該工程工地營造總負責及監造建築師代表)，共同授課。
本課程目標為:
1. 對本作品設計意涵及施工執行之深入了解.
2. 藉由施工圖比對及模型製作掌握營建各部門之系統整合.
3. 同類型案例之比較研究.

Toyo Ito's Taichung Metropolitan Opera House design is an epoch-making work. Its spatial form transcends the spectrum of modern architectural paradigms so far and makes the most radical and powerful response to modern architecture; moreover, it also completely challenges existing contemporary construction concepts and construction techniques. It is the closest masterpiece to us in the world after the Lutheran Church. I was lucky enough to have this opportunity to observe the construction and realization of this work up close. Therefore, I took advantage of it to study in depth at Dodo. In the 2011 semester (spring 2012), the Department of Architecture started to offer "Taichung Metropolitan Opera House Design and Construction", and in the fall of 2012, "Toyo Ito and the Taichung Opera House" was opened. Classes will continue this semester (spring 2013), with two full-time teachers from the department and two part-time teachers (each serving as the general responsible person for the project site construction and the representative of the supervising architect) to teach together.
The objectives of this course are:
1. In-depth understanding of the design implications and construction execution of this work.
2. Understand the system integration of various construction departments through construction drawing comparison and model production.
3. Comparative study of similar types of cases.
