本課程設計聚焦在兩大主題的探究：「臺灣文學」與「西方理論與論述典範」。
因此，課程第一部分在討論臺灣文學範疇的問題，建構台灣文學研究的脈絡，將台灣文學研究、史述與跨文化的論述置入，對臺灣文學史的史學與文學論述概念作一介紹與評析，並對文學史書寫周邊的論爭一併納入，藉此理解臺灣文學除了文學自身的課題外，涉及的跨科、跨學門與跨國理論輸入後的軌跡與蛻變。第二部分則在介紹臺灣文學研究的代表性論點與著作導讀，藉此側面了解臺灣文學已經探究的課題與未逮可供思考研究的部分，並且由此了解二十世紀西方理論觀點輸入後的臺灣文學研究之學術風貌，餘後旁擊的理論引用與學術書寫模式的課題，勾連到第三部分討論西方思維與理論觀點輸入後的反思。
課程進行的方式以文學課題為主，參酌目前葉石濤《台灣文學史綱》、邱貴芬等《台灣小說史論》、陳芳明《台灣新文學史》作為課程的主要架構，納入臺灣文學研究的理解與理論脈絡的辨析。每周設定議題，由課程老師與研究生對參考資料進行引介與導讀，並對文本與議題進行相關研討。

This course design focuses on the exploration of two major themes: "Taiwanese Literature" and "Western Theory and Discourse Model".
Therefore, the first part of the course discusses the scope of Taiwanese literature, constructs the context of Taiwanese literary research, integrates Taiwanese literary research, historical narrative, and cross-cultural discourse, introduces and comments on the historiography and literary discourse concepts of Taiwanese literary history, and also incorporates the debates surrounding the writing of literary history, so as to understand the trajectory and transformation of Taiwanese literature after the input of interdisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transnational theories in addition to the topic of literature itself. The second part introduces the representative arguments and work introductions of Taiwanese literary studies, so as to gain a side view of the topics that have been explored in Taiwanese literature and the parts that are not yet available for consideration and research, and thereby understand the academic landscape of Taiwanese literary studies after the introduction of Western theoretical perspectives in the 20th century. The remaining topics of theoretical quotations and academic writing models are linked to the third part, which discusses the reflections after the introduction of Western thinking and theoretical perspectives.
The course is conducted based on literary topics, with reference to Ye Shitao's "Outline of the History of Taiwan Literature", Qiu Guifen and others' "History of Taiwan Novel", and Chen Fangming's "Taiwan New Literature History" as the main structure of the course, incorporating the understanding of Taiwanese literature research and the analysis of the theoretical context. Topics are set every week, and the course teachers and graduate students introduce and read the reference materials, and conduct related discussions on the texts and topics.
