台灣廟會活動是當今台灣民間活力最為豐沛、與庶民生活關係最密切的常民文化，全臺各地不分山海城鄉、不分歲時四季，隨時呈現出一片莊嚴隆重、生氣蓬勃的廟會活動景象，充分顯現台灣常民生活文化的精神凝聚力。透過本課程的介紹探討，可以讓修習學生觀察、體會台灣庶民生活層面的宗教現象，擴大人文視野及襟懷，進一步學會用理解和包容的態度，深入探索和欣賞另一種灣生命力的文化現象。以此培養學生求真、篤信、力行、宏通的基本素養，達成博雅教育目標。Taiwan's temple fairs are the most vibrant folk culture in Taiwan today and are most closely related to people's lives.
