一座城市如何成形？都市的建築配置與空間改變如何影響生活於其中的人？一個都市人的情感、意識、性別、族裔、職業、乃至活動地區、社會行為與消費模式，和其都市有怎樣的關聯？交流越來越頻繁的國際大都會，有何共通或互異之處？而影像作為當代最重要的文化生產形式之一，又如何呼應或建構城市的生活與文化？本課程期望以活潑且具有批判意識的方式，來探討都市這個微型社會的空間政治與文化論述等議題，並透過各種動靜態影像的賞析，培養人文關懷與反思。

How does a city take shape? How do urban architectural configurations and spatial changes affect the people living in them? How are an urbanite's emotions, consciousness, gender, ethnicity, occupation, and even activity areas, social behaviors and consumption patterns related to his city? What do these cosmopolitan cities with increasingly frequent exchanges have in common or different from each other? As one of the most important forms of contemporary cultural production, how does video respond to or construct urban life and culture? This course hopes to explore issues such as spatial politics and cultural discourse in the micro-society of the city in a lively and critical manner, and to cultivate humanistic care and reflection through the appreciation of various dynamic and static images.
