生與死是生命共振之兩端，任何一端之波動，均會造成另一端的震動。特別是一個人如何看待死亡，會深刻地影響他如何對待其生命。但是文化傳統長久以來對死亡的禁忌，導致我們對死亡缺乏適當的認識與反思，而無法深刻體悟生命的意義。此番感慨，視為開授此課程之目的。本課程希冀透過對生死相關主題的探討，以期使學生能夠建立適當的死亡觀，進而對生命的價值與真諦有更深遠的體悟，並更為珍惜自己的生命。簡言之，探討死亡的意義在於對生命的安頓。

Life and death are the two ends of the resonance of life. The waves at either end will cause vibrations at the other end. Especially how a person views death, it will deeply affect how he treats his life. However, the cultural tradition's taboo on death over a long time has led to our lack of proper understanding and reflection on death, and we cannot deeply understand the meaning of life.
