對於現代公民而言，政治因素是影響公共事務最重要的自變項之ㄧ，而媒體則是最重要的中間變項。政治所強調的是如何配置有限的資源，媒體則強調如何讓受眾全盤接收所傳達的訊息與價值。媒體與政治互動範圍甚廣，如政治的定義、政治體制、意識型態、民主政治、投票行為、國家與民族、政治文化、政黨與選舉、利益團體、軍隊與警察，以及公共政策等議題，均與現代公民的生活息息相關。簡言之，政治與感知(perception)密不可分。本課程主要目的在於介紹政治與媒體的關連性，每次上課皆有一重點課題以及相關的概念。此外，本課程在內容設計上是以思辯為主，並由公民概念、文化分析和個案研究三大領域中來選取重要子題來進行。For modern citizens, political factors are one of the most important independent variables that affect public affairs, and the media is the most important intermediate variable. Politics emphasizes how to allocate limited resources, while the media emphasizes how to allow the audience to fully receive the message and value conveyed. The interaction between media and politics covers a wide range of topics, such as the definition of politics, political system, ideology, democratic politics, voting behavior, country and nation, political culture, political parties and elections, interest groups, military and police, and public policy. All are closely related to the lives of modern citizens. In short, politics is inseparable from perception. The main purpose of this course is to introduce the relationship between politics and the media. Each class has a key topic and related concepts. In addition, the content design of this course is mainly based on speculation, and it selects important sub-topics from the three fields of citizenship concepts, cultural analysis and case studies.
此課程旨在教授關於媒介政治的相關理論，訓練同學用政治的觀點看媒體，也用媒體的觀點看政治，課程設計以大眾傳播理論為綱本，並結合政治傳播學的新進學說，讓有志於新聞工作，或對政治傳播學有興趣的同學，能用冷靜的理論架構來省思國內外光怪陸離的媒介現象，由於此課程是媒體「理論課」，因此強烈建議選修此課程的同學，加修實務面的「新聞採訪與寫作」。
